    Default Media server upgrade install

When I try to upgrade to the latest version of FMS there is a warning that the
current version will be uninstalled in order to complete the upgrade
    installation.

So, I have not proceeded with the install, till I checked that uninstalling
will NOT erase configuration, log and custom applications and application data
    created in the current version.

Just looking for a little reassurance before proceeding.

    Thanks

Default Re: Media server upgrade install

Actually I think I read somewhere that it WILL. You'll need to backup all
those directories first before issuing the install. Always assume that if
something's going to be deleted, all the stuff you've worked on will too :)

For example on a linux box, to back up your applications you'd copy the
contents of /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ (assuming you went with a default
install). Same basic idea for your logfiles and configuration changes.

    Hope it helps!
