Memory allocation on OS 9 - Mac Programming

Hi all Can i check what the largest size that OS 9 can allocate? Using either malloc or calloc. I seem to run into memory issues. It is ok on OS X but not OS 9. Thanks -- Best Regards Eleen...

    Can i check what the largest size that OS 9 can allocate?

    FreeMem returns the amount of free space in the heap (although usually you
    will not be able to allocate a block of that size, due to fragmentation).
    MaxBlock returns the largest contiguous amount of free memory.

    Neither of these return anything useful on OS X

    No but the trick in Classic OS used to be using the System's memory
    heap ("temporary" memory):

    TempFreeMem(), TempMaxMem(), TempNewHandle(), etc.
