    A great way to make absolutely positioned <div> tags appear in places they
    aren't intended (particularly on Macs) is to put them in tables. Since you
    are using pop-ups, and since pop-ups are layer based, I'm betting $100 to a
    KrispyKreme that you have placed your mmLoadMenus() call in a table cell.

    look what i've found:

    "Layers appear differently in Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers, as well as in Windows and on the Macintosh. If you are designing for a specific browser and operating system configuration, you can easily manage how your pages will look. If you are designing for multiple browser and operating system configurations, test your pages on the various configurations to make sure the page is rendered as you expect. "

    that's really bull.. anyone has a solution?

    A solution? Yes - stop reading information from that source.

    It is BS. Layers do NOT appear differently in NN and IE on any platform. A
    pixel is a pixel. Absolute positioning is absolute.

    I posted my best guess (without looking at the code) earlier.

    This is a very timely thread for me too. I've tried fiddling with the .js file that supports the menu functions but to no avail.

    Sniffing for platform is really not a suitable solution. Although I suppose we could do it in such a way as to only reconfigure the position of the menus (modifying thier incorrect offset) then it would be a work-around.

    My Mac IE menus appear to to drift in both the X and Y direction by an in consistent ammount. Very frustrating!!! Safari and NS both fine, WinTel boxes look okay too.

    Looking forward to hearing a response from someone.

    i would be also interested in a solution, but i have already one for my problem, which is slightly different...

    now i just use the image-swap-behavious instead of the layer-hide-show one..

    Folks:

    There has been an answer to this question posted already for several hours on the NNTP forum.

    <sigh>

    It looks like the mirroring is slow yet again....

    Oops - I see that a URI was in the first post - apologies.

    I also see that my diagnosis was correct -

    <td> <script language="JavaScript1.2">fwLoadMenus();</script> <table
    border="0"

    That's the problem. That call should not be in a table. It should be the
    very first thing after the <body> tag.

    vapor:

    You are using layers when you use the FW pop-up menus. The pop-ups get their "pop" from layers that are written dynamically to the page after it loads. To see this large chunk of code that gets written to each pop-up menu page, go here -

    http://www.great-web-sights.com/library4d.html

    and scroll through the text area that is directly above the pop-up menu (the link at the bottom of the page won't work).
