Re: Merge addresses into Indesign 201
I have IDCS and the PM plugin, and I'm very happy with the merge functionality. I do have one question, and it's probably something pretty simple, but I can't wrap my head around it.
Is there a way to put a space in between two fields if, and only if, that field has an entry for that page? Easy example: merging names. One field for first name, another for last name, and another for middle initial, which is only present in 10% or so of the records. If I put a space between the first name and middle initial fields, and another between middle initial and last name, then records without a middle initial will have two spaces between first and last name.
I don't create the database files, so any changes to the layout there means me reworking all of them every time.
I did try sticking a space in front of all the middle initials in a sample database, but ID just dropped the space on import.
?
