I need to Merge an Excel database spreadsheet with an existing Indesign template. The template is sales signage for stores. Like sales signs in clothing store. THe data comes from an Excel spreadsheet database with a header list of fields. There are only 3 or 4 fields, ie. price, product, sale price etc. there are about 16 -20 different signs. There are some slight differences but mostly exactly the same. I can script the differences with applescript? for example if there are 2 for one in one field the sign has an extra field. Right now I would be happy to get one database worth of rows into only one of the sign templates.

How do I do the merge and how do I get placeholder text into the template. I can save it as a CSV if that is easier than. I thought XML would be good incase I need to script the different sets but as I said I would be happy to do it without XML or try it both ways.
