    Default Merge wont Merge Gradients?

I don't know if this is new thing with CS or if it has always been this way. If I have 2 overlapping filled shapes, where the fills on each shape are gradients, when I tell it to PATHFINDER, MERGE I dont get a MERGE I get a DIVIDE. MERGE works fine if the shapes are filled with a solid color, but only with gradient fills is it generating unexpected results. Any suggestions? Have others experienced this?

    Any help/insight appreciated.

Default Re: Merge wont Merge Gradients?

Correct. Always been this way with Merging gradients, I believe. If you want
to merge two objects, each with a gradient, try clicking the first Shape Mode
icon in the Pathfinder palette (or option-clicking it to expand).
