Messed up animated GIFs
Frustration! I created a simple banner ad in Flash 8 on a Mac G4 Powerbook and
tried to export it to Animated GIF format.
I can't get the program to generate ANY type accurately when I do this.
(Single-frame GIF images are fine, by the way.) It seems to enlarge the fonts
by some 1000% or more, so all you can see is the very bottom edge of a few
characters, which wildly overlap. I tried re-installing the software, checked
permissions, ran tests using other fonts. Nothing seems to help. Ended up
rebuilding the whole thing in Photoshop. I'd deeply appreciate any advice,
links, etc.
Thanks!

Re: Messed up animated GIFs
Is ANYONE at Adobe going to answer this damn question? I apologize ahead of
time, but I am extremely frustrated. All over the internet this question can
be found unanswered. Why when exporting a flash file as an ANIMATED GIF does
my copy not show up? Instead, I get a distorted black box where the copy
should be.
I have a client waiting right now for this animated gif.
Thank you.

Re: Messed up animated GIFs
Joshfree and DesignSwami, make sure you search the forums because I answered
this question just 5 posts down from this one. This would save you from dealing
with angry clients.
Break your fonts apart. Select your text boxes, hit CTRL-B twice then
try exporting again. If you don't break the text apart TWICE, it will still be
a font and not outlines. Flash apparently has a problem with exporting fonts to
GIFs.

This is a peer-to-peer forum, it is not official Adobe Support. Please
contact them directly to receive office support.

I find this rather hard to believe.

Re: Messed up animated GIFs
Amy, thank you so much! As you can see, my post was from last June, so there was no longer any urgency. But I'm very happy to know how to get this to work.
