Meta tags
I'm using Publisher 2002 sp2. How do I add title,
description and keyword meta tags so they get picked up
by search engines? I've tried editing the html with
notepad...adding the aforementioned meta tags between the
heads. Didn't work. Website wouldn't load. I then
tried using the "insert html code fragment", and while it
appeared to insert the code correctly, the site is still
not getting picked up by any of the search engines. The
site is www.gardenology.net.

adding in the meta tag info DOES NOT automatically get the site in search
engines, the web is to big. it can take weeks and even months to get indexed
by engine robots.

I recommend against manual edits of 2002 pages!
I then> tried using the "insert html code fragment", and while it

the insert frag does not allow access to the head section so the tags would
be incorrectly located on the page.
this IS NOT the correct way to add meta tags, see your first question.
the site is still> not getting picked up by any of the search engines.
see your second question.
step 1- correctly add the desc and keywords.
step 2- do a clean publish.
step 3- wait.

A "description" of your site.
Visit http://www.davidbartosik.com/ - and go to View menu, Source, and look
at description and keywords for an example.
You'll find them in the first top lines.

Sorry, I just can't get it to work. After I enter the link and preview it,

Could you please show me the proper hyperlink that I could just copy and

I apologize for the trouble.
Thank you so much.

Re: meta tags
What are you asking about here?
Though as far as your reference to "%20", that is what is seen when embedded
spaces are used in URL's. They don't support spaces and thus should not be
used in file names at all. i.e. use "aboutus.htm" and not "about us.htm".

Meta Tags
I have just created the first two pages of my site from my template. On
creating these I added "keywords" adn "description". On my old Dreamweaver
package these would appear in code at the head of affairs but on these pages
they are turning up on lines 160-170. Is it because these have been based on a
template and have been blocked from these lines?

Can you post a link to one of these pages?

Re: Meta Tags
You have a ton of extra javascript in the head of the page - your meta tags
are still within the head, though.
By the way, that js is mostly due to the pop-up menus you have chosen to
use. Be aware that there are MUCH better ways to do those, and ways that
won't get you into as much trouble as those....
