MIAW forget window vs. close window - Macromedia Director Lingo

I'm having a problem with forget window. Sometimes when I forget a window, the projector crashes. The problem sometimes happens the first time I try to forget a window and sometimes after opening and forgetting the window several times. I doubt the problem is due to any Lingo problem such as globals being invalidated. Has anyone seen this - where forgetting a MIAW can crash a projector at odd times? Would there really be any performance degradation in keeping the window around but just using "close window" instead of "forget window"? Thanks, Brian...

Thanks. I was doing exactly what the links said not to do - which is use a tell statement to tell the stage to forget the MIAW. I'll try another way and see if it helps.
