MICR0S0FT 0FFICE 2OO1 - MS WORD - Menu Disabled - Mac Applications & Software

HELP! I Run Office 2001 (german) under OS 9.2.2 (german), now the Word-menu-bar is suddenly disabled. The only menu that pulls down is the font-menue. All other Office-applications run with best performance. I run all updaters from the MS-homepage, increased the memory but nothing brings the menus back. macfixit.com needs a subscription, that really s. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong? T.I.A. In your System folder, open the Preferences folder, and look for files
with names like WordSettings(4) (or whatever they might be called in
German!). Trash them and start over. While you're at it, you can trash
other Word-related preference files. When you restart Word, these will
be recreated, and you should be OK.

I had this problem a couple of years ago with Office 2001 on a G3
running OS 9.1 with loads of extensions. It was due to a conflict with
the Control panel "PICTify" (V. 1.51). Once I disabled PICTify, the
    hierarchical menus worked.
