The article is about the DNS service for www.microsoft.com, not HTTP.
This can easily be confirmed by doing the appropriate DNS lookups,
unless Microsoft doesn't like such articles and manages to switch back
to using Windows based DNS servers.

The DNS service *alone* being transferred to a big old honking
distributed network like Akamai's that has lots of worldwide service and
does not directly use Microsoft's server bandwidth could be a big
advantage, especially in the midst of the MSBlaster attack.

Indeed, the article is somewhat incomplete. MSFT has been using Akamai's
DNS servers for quite some time. They had 4 nameservers on the -same-
subnet and one of their own MCSEs managed to block that subnet from the
rest of the Internet. But

" Microsoft is using Akamai's extensive worldwide network to distrubte
(sic) the massive traffic that is illegally being directed at Microsoft by
hackers."

However, if you wish to check www.netcraft.com:

http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=a100.ms.a.microsoft.com

That is the first listed of 229 sites with CNAME www.microsoft.com.

Their http service is still being provided by Windows with caching
provided by akamai.net. Read this:

The subject of the OP remains a fabrication.

They are using Linux to "Protect" not publish their web site.

And notice that their own DNS servers are not up to it. Gee, of the
varios DNS root sites that survived/got taken down by the last major
attack on them, I wonder how many of the dead ones ran Mickey$oft, and
what the survivers ran?

I disagree. The content is being generated by a machine running Windows,
but it being cached and served by Akamai's Linux machines. Caching and
serving is a part of the "publication" process on the web, so the subject
is in fact accurate - if incomplete in its implication.
