Minolta Dimage Elite 5400 Scanner and J&R - Photography

Hi, The brown truck (UPS) just stopped and delivered the scanner and I can hardly wait to check it out. I had ordered it at PCNation but it was on backorde. Hi,
The brown truck (UPS) just stopped and delivered the scanner and I can hardly
    wait to check it out.
I had ordered it at PCNation but it was on backorde. After waiting 2 weeks, and
having sold my Nikon Coolscan IV, I decided to check the web. J&R had it in
stock but the price was about $50 higher and they charged shipping.
They had a little remark stating to contact them if I had seen it cheaper
somehwere else, so I sent them the url and got an e-mail back that they
accepted my price match and gave me a number to call. In 5 minutes I had an
order number. J&R shipped it ground UPS 7/15/03 and it arrived today, 7/18/03
    at 1:00 pm.
Will post my experience with the scanner as soon as I get it installed and my
    hands stop shaking from exitment.

That would be appreciated, especially if you have some Provia to scan, with
and without the built-in diffuser. A comparison with an earlier scan of
Color negative film would also reveal the reduced grain aliasing you should
    get from the higher resolution.

    Hi,

    Sorry,
I stopped using slide film about 8 years ago. Most of my slides are Velvia and
    Kodak.
Right now I am having trouble installing the scanner on a Win98 system. It
keeps asking for the Win CD but still cannot find the file.
I am getting a new PC in about 10 days so that is not a big deal. For now I
will install it on a laptop running XP.

Although the doentation indicates Win98 and up, I wouldn't be surprised
if it needs the Win98 SE as a minimum, due to the improved USB support.

That will probably work more stable anyway. Good luck and enjoy what seems
    to be a cool tool.
