Minolta Lenses - Photography

    All lenses with 5 contacts will work fine with the new cameras.
    You wont miss any functionality, which isn't build into the lens.

    The other 3 contacts are used for power zoom (in the case of XI lenses)
    or communication of focus distance information (in the case of D lenses),
    right?

    As Leonard Pang points out, they're there to drive the electric zooms of
    the xi series. Possibly a good idea from the minds of Minolta, but the
    only xi lens I had was not the greatest thing...
    If you have an opportunity to buy an xi lens on the used market, let the
    opportunity keep on knocking...
