Misaligned links when Word 2000 doc converted to PDF
Seems like several posters are asking a similar question, but I have not seen an answer.
I am using Word 2000, Acrobat 4.05a, and Windows XP.
When I convert a Word doc to PDF and view the links (always hyperlinks pointing to headings or bookmarks within the Word doc) in the PDF (chain-link tool enabled), many (as many as 50-75%) of the link rectangles displayed in the resulting PDF are "misaligned" meaning the active rectangle does not appear directly over the intended text. I cannot detect a pattern between those Word links that translate properly (in other words, have their active rectangles aligned properly) and those that don't. Certainly I'm not doing anything different in the Word doc. Realigning these stray links requires me to manually move the active rectangle over the text. In a 200 page document this can take an hour or more.
I realize I am using an old version of Acrobat. But this problem alone justifies an upgrade if anyone can confirm v5 or v6 fixes this issue.
Thanks.

Re: Misaligned links when Word 2000 doc converted to PDF
Have you tried clicking File/Print and setting Distiller as your printer in Word before creating the PDF?

Re: Misaligned links when Word 2000 doc converted to PDF
Mike, I have V5.0. I have multiple Word documents with bookmarks in each. I also have hyperlinks in each document referencing the bookmarks within that document as well as the bookmarks in the other documents. I'm using PDFMaker for the conversion from Word to pdf. My "link rectangles" around the links in the pdf version seem to be coming out perfectly. However, my hyperlinks aren't working properly (see my posted messages). They only attempt to open the Word document and put me at the top of it rather than where the referenced bookmark was.

No, I haven't tried that, but I will very shortly and report back. Thanks.

You can't link from a PDF to the middle of a Word document.

Re: Misaligned links when Word 2000 doc converted to PDF
W T - setting the printer to Distiller prior to clicking the "Create Adobe PDF" icon on the Word toolbar seems to make no difference. Many of the link rectangles are still misaligned.
Nathan - I assume your note is for Robert?

Re: Misaligned links when Word 2000 doc converted to PDF
Technically Acrobat 5.05 was the first version to work with XP, and I believe 4.05c was released to work with Office 2000 (or maybe 4.05a was for Office 2000 and 4.05c was for WIndows 2000, Ic an'r be sure so many years after the fact).
I would at least try a 4.05a-4.05c update (if that update is even still available). Other than that, I'm fresh out of ideas.
