    Default Missing Bold Button?

    All--

The project team I am on is using Contribute as a way for novice users to edit
intranet pages for our company. In our testing, I have come upon a small
problem. For some reason, even though the settings seem correct, there is no
way for me to change text to bold when I am editing pages in Contribute. In the
permission settings, it is set to allow me as a user to apply styles like bold.
Anyone have any idea where my missing bold button could have gone?

    Thanks in advance,
    AJ

    AJ,

Do you see the Italic button?

If you create a new role and leave it with the defaults, does it show the options?

    John--

I don't see the italic button either.

I've also noticed that the problem occurs when I create a new page from one of
our templates. I can see the style buttons when I edit the existing index page,
but not when I create a new page from a template. The page I am trying to edit
is simply a template that will allow users to put in an image and some text
    which will then display on the index page via a script. :confused;

In terms of adding a new role, I can't do that due to our stringent security
settings. The other people who have tested this specefic template can see the
bold button. I am just worried that other users might have the same problem
that I have once this is on a wider scale.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Alex,

This can be defined differently for each role in the administrator options. I
assume that the option is disabled for your role but is enabled for the other
    user's role.

That is the direction that I would start looking at this point.

    John--

In the options for my role under "styles and fonts" both "allow users to apply
styles" and "allows users to apply bold, italic,underline..." are selected. I
can apply the styles on certain pages, but on others I cannot.

Have you done all the basics?
    * Delete your connection and recreate
    * Uninstall and reinstall Contribute. Make sure you install 3.11. I would do a restart after the uninstall.

This fixed the problem for me (from another post):

I think I found a solution. At least a solution that is ok with me. If you go
to Edit, Administer Website, then pick your site. Select your name then click
on the Edit Settings button. In the Styles and Fonts section under style
support, change from Document Level CSS to HTML tags.

Doing that let me to edit text styles in the document. Perhaps the fact that
the document is a template and Contribute doesn't allow us to edit the
template, so we can't edit the Document Level CSS. Changing to HTML tags..
    option worked for me.

    Thanks
