Missing links from FH9
We recently upgraded to OS X and Freehand 11.0.2 from Freehand 9. When we open
our FH9 documents all of the links are missing. The trouble is, not all of the
graphics are in one (the same) directory. We have to first collect for output
in FH9 and then open the document on the new machine. Is there a way not to
have to go through this process with each project?
Also, in FH11, if we save a document to a network drive and then later reboot
the box, the next time we open the document from the network drive, the links
are missing. Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks in advance,
Ted

Re: Missing links from FH9
Everytime a Freehand file is moved from one machine to another it will 'break'
the links to any placed files.
One way around that is to drop all the placed images in a folder and drop the
Freehand file into the same folder before launching it. Freehand will usually
search wherever it happens to be for missing links.
Otherwise, you can direct it to them manually while it opens or use the object
panel to update those links manually as well.
If you need to work on the file from a networked machine, then place the
entire file where you want it, then save an alias of it to the desktop from
where it's being worked on. This will launch the file from its remote location
and leave it where it is while you work on it. If the connection fails at any
time, like the server crashes, Freehand will prompt you for a location the next
time you try to save.
