    Default mixed paper size

i'm in the it dept. - our users have a need to create pdf files with 8-1/2 x 11 (for text) and also 11 x 17 (for diagrams) sheet sizes. we can't seem to find a way to get this document printed on an HP laser printer capable of 11 x 17.

Dan, what exactly is the problem?

Are you trying to get the diagrams to be printed on paper from one bin and the text pages from another?

Cold you be more precise please.

Yes, that is exactly the problem. Everything is formatted correctly in Acrobat - text on 8-1/2 x 11 sheets in portrait format and 11 x17 in landscape.

right now it shrinks everything to 8-1/2 x 11. We would like for it to use the correct paper size according to the document (as you stated).

    thx,

In the print dialogue menu select "Choose Paper Source by PDF page size" and set "Page Scaling" to none.

I don't have a printer with more than paper source to hand to try this but it would be the first ting I try.

    Dan,
Have you looked in the Acrobat File>Print dialog box for Acrobat and Reader version 6 - the option to Choose Paper Source by PDF size is in the Page handling section bottom left. In version 5 its in File>Print>Advanced just above the drop down list for Color Profiles. These options are in the Acrobat/Reader Print Dialog box independently of what Printer is selected.

Maybe there are also the same options in the HP printer driver software, but mmaybe also you need to set this option in Acrobat/Reader version X - whatever you have - to get the optin inf the HP printer driver to work.
