    Default MM_preloadImages doesn't seem to be working

    I have some simple rollover effects that are not working smoothly - it doesn't
    seem like the MM_preloadImages function is working because when the page first
    loads, the rollover images are taking too long to render, but once cached they
    respond the way they should. It is most noticeable in Safari. Has anyone
    experienced this or have any guesses as to why this is happening? Any help is
    much appreciated.

    Default Re: MM_preloadImages doesn't seem to be working

    I'm experiencing the same problem. I don't think that setting the "src"
    property of a new Image() object is forcing IE 6.x to download the image. This
    is because I put some Javascript debugging on my page. When I click on the "are
    they loaded" link, then I get the value of the "completed" property for each
    image that is to be preloaded, and each alert window reads "false".

    Even if I give the browser a little time after the page is rendered, and then
    click on the link, they are still not preloaded.

    Anybody know of a workaround?

    Thank you,

    Neil Griffin

    <script type="text/JavaScript">
    function aretheyloaded()
    {
    for(i=0; i<document.MM_p.length; i++)
    {
    alert(document.MM_p[i].complete)
    }
    }
    </script>

    <body>
    ...
    <a href="javascript:;" onclick="aretheyloaded();">are they loaded yet?</a>
    ...
    </body>
