Model 340 and Plextor 63CS CD Drive
I know there has been many threads over the subject of CD drives on
older machines. But I have not been able to find anything specific to
this problem.
It is a Model 340, has a Plaxtor 63CS CD drive. However it hangs at
868 (initializing SCSI adapter). I've tried the CD:
Terminated and unterminated, internally and externally at varous SCSI
ID's, with parity and wihtout parity, all combinations I can think of.
Another SCSI CD drive was recoginised immediatly (however that one had
the 512 byte issue and could therefore not be used as a boot device).
Does anyone have a solution to it, short of using 'true blue'. Which
any other time I would use a 7210 (but don't have one).
Thanks
PD

could you have a SCSI ID conflict?

Re: Model 340 and Plextor 63CS CD Drive
Kent,
Well, I don't think so, hdisk0 is at 6 and hdisk1 at 0 the CD I'm
pretty sure I have at 5. But I think I might try other ones, had
issues before about devices only work on spcific ID's
Thanks

this on the SCSI bus? If yes, I had no luck at all with this drive
on my 320h. I suspect because it can only do 5.00MHz synchronous SCSI.
I had luck with any other Plextor I tried (Plex 12/20, UltraPlex, 12Plex),
but not with the 6Plex.

Uli
I'll have to check but I think it may well be the model, you refenced
as not working. That sounds a very possible explination, the syptoms
are very much like a mismatch of that type.
Thanks
