Default Modify an *.ai image

I am currently using illustrator 9.0. About 3 years ago I created a banner image using illustrator 9.0 for my website which details the company name, address, phone, and fax number. The address and phone/fax numbers are changing. I have to modify that image to reflect those changes. I've copied the gif image from my website and converted it to ai format. When I open the ai image in illustrator I can not figure out how to modify the text of the image. Please advise on how to modify the text. If you'd like to see the banner I am referring please go to www.nhb.uscourts.gov.

    Thank you in advance

Once you've exported it as a gif you can't just save it as an .ai file to make it an editable vector file again. What happened to the original Illustrator file?

    Jim,

I dont really think there is a way to modify the converted file - you need the original .ai file.

If you can't find it, you have to recreate it. :)

You cant edit the text on the gif, but if you dont have the original ai or want to recreat the whole banner you can simply cover the old #'s with a square that matches the bckg color of the banner and put the new # ontop, then save as gif.
