Modifying document details

Is there any way to modify file details such as summary, title, author?

I asked the same question 2 weeks ago with not usable answer
Here is some info i found so far
Microsoft files:
Dsofile.dll lets you edit Office document properties

There must be some other easier way do it. And also there is other files than office files.

I've also looked around but no answer.

Why must there be an easier way to do it? What kind of files are you trying to modify?
