More XP Password Problems
I restored Windows XP to an earlier date because Internet
Explorer would not start. After the restore, I began
getting Log On screens. I didn't remember setting a
password, but I used the standard password that my family
uses on any of our shared programs. It didn't work, even
after I exhausted all the variations (Caps On, Initial
caps, etc.) that I could think of.
Here's something, though: When I just leave the password
blank, the system seems to begin starting and then
abrubtly logs off back to the Log On screen. This also
happens when I sign on as administrator with no password
in SAFE mode.
So does this mean that "no password" is valid for my login
ID, and that the real problem has to do with the start-up
routine? And if so, what can I do?
