    well,

if you mean you have a car comewere in the scene and you wish to place it over
the platform (assuming the Z axis is pointing up in your scene),
    you just write:
    member("your3Dworld").model("car").worldPosition.x =
    member("your3Dworld").model("platform").worldPosit ion.x

    member("your3Dworld").model("car").worldPosition.y =
    member("your3Dworld").model("platform").worldPosit ion.y

On, you could also try a modelsunderray or so, but here another
    question.

You state that 2 is pointing UP, but if a car drives up a hill, then
his roof won't be pointing up. It will be under an angle.

Does this have to do with vector normals or is there something else
needed to calculate how the car itself could be placed ?

Setting the pivot point to a certain location will MOVE it but a car
is not standing flat on a hill.
