Thanks again for all of your help. I don have my preferences set that way. I
was hoping for a keyboard command so I could eliminate the need to click the
layer name.

Well ... you could use Cut followed by 'Paste In Front' ... but you'd have
to have something on the target layer selected so you could 'Paste In Front'
of that object.
I always use the 'click on layer name' method. Maybe someone else has a
better idea.
