    Default movieRate not responding well

I have created a simple rewind button using movieRate. The code works, but on mouseUp the video sputters, and takes quite a long time to start back up again. I am using a lot of shockwaves, which I've heard can slow down stuff. I've reduced the number as much as I could, but I'm still having the same problem. Is there anyway I can get movieRate to respond better?

    thanks

recent problem-shooting leads me to believe that it may be tied into the MPEG Advance Xtra that I'm using.

that could be ... SW files have to decompress each time they are called before they can run.

yes, It has to be the SW files since my movie plays slow as well when I use SW files. Though is there a way to decompress the SW files before it is time to play them? Like maybe using preload?

is there a reason why you are using SW files ... they were really only intended to be used for internet ... "normal" leaves the file uncompressed and runs much better ... all SW does is save some space if you are short of it.

I am not sure which one of us your asking the question to, but for me, I did it because it's vector base which makes it cleaner drawings, in director and the edges are not pixelated.

After a lot of testing, it doesn't appear to be the swf's. The video has the same problem in the quicktime player, which leads me to believe its a problem with my compression. I've tried to export every different way I can think of. I'm exporting out of final cut pro using the DV/NTSC pro codec at perfect quality, 29.97 fps. I'm then exporting out of Cleaner 6.0.1 as an MPEG1 (multiplexed, video bit rate set to 500, GOP set to IPBBPBB..., and have source video load into memory). If anyone is aware of any known issues with any of this or has any other ideas, I'd be very appreciative.

it turns out it was the MPEG. cleaner has a bug in which if the video is jumped around, it freezes. It appears that there is no update.

    Thanks for your replies.
