movies make my monitor change color depth - Macromedia Director Basics

I have three separate movie files, one created on a Mac and two on a PC. When I change from the PC movies to the Mac movie and back again my monitor changes colour depth creating a long blank (black) screen as the change takes place. How can I prevent this from happening? It doesn't seem to happen in the projector, but can I be sure it never will?...

At least one of your members in a cast has a different bitdepth. Your
dir-file has the same depth as the your monitor had at moment of creation.
Edit each movie again while checking colordepth of monitor and check all
castmember for different colordepth. Save the movie when everything
    looks fine.
    This will resolve your problem.

check the palette channel in each movie, especially the Mac movie ... there may be "System-Mac" and "System-PC" palette settings.

also check the default palette setting for the Mac movie (Movie properties) it may still be set to System-Mac ... the projectors usually auto-adjust unless there are specific settings made in the palette score.
