Moving QuarkXpress files from a Macintosh to InDesign in Windows
I am in the process of moving from a Mac (OS 8.1) to a PC (XP Windows). I currently have my publications saved in QuarkXpress on a Mac and I want to transfer them to InDesign (i have recently purchased Adobe Creative Suite Premium) - any ideas on how I can do this in the most efficient way?
Thanks!

As long they're Quark 4.x or 3.x just use file>open.

Re: Moving QuarkXpress files from a Macintosh to InDesign in Windows
If you have not transferred files across platforms before, whether Quark or not, make sure that your Mac Quark documents end each file name with '.qxd' so that the Windows computer knows what kind of file it is. You will most likely need to do the same with linked images ('.EPS', '.TIF', etc.).

Not neceessarily but still a good idea. I've opened Quark docs with no
extensions in ID for Windows.

This is necessary in two years (or in my case, two weeks) when you forget what application the document was created in.
