MS OFFICE -- Toolbar there but icon image NOT. What's the deal???
Hello all --
I have Windows 2000 with SP4, MS Office 2003 Pro, and Acrobat 6.01.
I am having this strange problem where I am not always seeing the actual icon image on the toolbar in the MS Office apps. The toolbar itself is there but instead of an icon image, it's just a blank image, which looks simply like the background of the toolbar itself.
Eveything works fine and when I hover over where the icon image should be, I see the tooltip. What's weird is that when I restart Word, sometimes only the first icon is blank and the last 2 images are there. It seems to jump around as to which ones are visible and which are not.
Just so everyone knows... I am not running MS Word 2003 as my email editor in Outlook 2003 (I read this could cause problems). Also, I already tried the repair, as well as the uninstall/reinstall approach. Still nothing.
Wondering if anyone with the same config (Win2k, Office 2003, and Acrobat 6.01) has seen something like this??? I can't imagine what would cause the icon images to be there sometimes and then sometimes not be there... It just doesn't make sense...
Anyone have an idea about this? Could the PDFMaker.dot file be corrupted maybe?

Re: MS OFFICE -- Toolbar there but icon image NOT. What's the deal???
It may partly be the Office 2003. As I recall, there have been several posts regarding Office 2003 problems for which AA6 is not certified.

Oh, I forgot to ask about that... I wasn't certain whether AA6 "officially" supported Office 2003. Is the official word that it doesnt?

Acrobat 6.01 is indeed "certified" for Office 2003.

Re: MS OFFICE -- Toolbar there but icon image NOT. What's the deal???
New computer:
Windows XP
Office Pro 2003
Acrobat 6.0 Professional
Acrobat does NOT loaded in MS Word, either icons or in the View-Toolbars. It is loaded in other modules.
To activate Acrobat 6 in Word, I have to launch Outlook, make a dummy reply to an e-mail (set up for MS Word is default reply in Outlook).
It happens in BOTH versions: Standard and Professional. Couldn't figure it out yet.

Did you update to 6.01?
Have you tried restarting your computer and opening Word BEFORE you ever open Outlook?

Re: MS OFFICE -- Toolbar there but icon image NOT. What's the deal???
I just know about the update 5 minutes ago. It would be a pain because it's a "corporate's property" so we do NOT have the CD to install and contacting IT is as talking to 8'11" giant! How can I update to 6.0.1 WITHOUT on my knee? ? ?
I restart the computer every morning, and am aware of the problem ONLY in launching Word before Outlook.

It looks like you will have to look to the sky and contact IT. Ther eis no way to upgrade to 6.0.1 without the CD.

Thanks!
My neck is too stiff. I think it's normal, agewise. I have a REAL hammer nearby; however, the machine is still functioning. It's not too bad, just annoying.
"When it ain't broken, don't fix!" I was told.
