Default MS Servers run under Windows 2000/XP or as independant OS?

I subscribed to Microsoft's Action Pack and they sent me a number of
    different servers such as:

    MS Windows Server
    MS Exchange Server
    MS Mobile Information Server
MS Internet Security and Acceleration Server
    MS Sharepoint Portal Server
    MS Small Business Server
    MS Office Project Server
    MS Transaction Server

Do these servers install and run under Windows 2000 / XP or do they install
as a separate, independant operating system?

Windows Server and Small business server are "server class" operating
    systems.

The other products are server applications, designed to be installed on top
of a server class operating system.

Does Microsoft have any other "server class" operating systems besides these

The current product is Windows Server 2003, which has Standard, Small
Business, Enterprise, Web and Datacenter editions.

The previous server product was Windows 2000 Server, which again had several
    editions.

    Hope this helps

    Oli
