MT-newswatcher & filters - Mac Applications & Software

For a newsgroup I have made a filter which kills messages if the subject does not contain 'mac'. The filter works. Default MT-newswatcher & filters

For a newsgroup I have made a filter which kills messages if the subject
does not contain 'mac'. The filter works.

However the problem is that in the groupswindow there still appears the
number of messages in that particular group. This means I still have to
open it to discover that there are actually no interesting messages.

is there a way to apply the filter before opening the group?

No. MT-NewsWatcher needs the message headers before it can apply the
filters, and it doesn't fetch the headers until you open the group. In
fact, when you open a group, all it does is fetch the headers and apply
    the filters.

If MT-NW applied the filters to all subscribed groups before you opened
them, it would take a lot longer to update the message counts in the
subscriptions window. In effect, it would have to open all the groups
but keep them hidden until you ask for them.

You could try asking Simon Fraser to add an option to have MT-NW
pre-fetch headers & apply filters for all the subscribed groups before
you open them. He might consider adding it to his to-do list.

Or you could just do like I do, and open a bunch of groups all at once.
Whichever group opens first will pop up in the front, and you can check
the new messages in that group while the others are still opening. When
you're done with one group, close its window and the next will be there
    waiting for you.

That's the way I do it now, will ask to put it on a wish list.
