    Default MT-NW Error Message (2nd Request)

    I still get the following error message from MT-NW 3.3b1:

    ====================
    An error occurred when NewsWatcher tried to send a command to your news
    server.

    NewsWatcher sent the following command:
    NEWGROUPS 691230 060526

    The server sent the following response:
    501 bad command usage
    ====================

    My ISP (Great Barrier Reef aka gbroline,com) is clueless as to what's
    going on and feels there may be a bug in my MT-NW

    Anybody understand this error message and what, if anything , I need to
    do?

    In my experience, any time an error message is returned by MT-NW, it
    also includes some kind of info as to possible sources of the trouble.
    That includes info indicating whether the error is most likely on the
    server end or on your end. What did *that* part say?

    Otherwise, I'd just be guessing that this is part of an attempt to get a
    list of new groups. If you've previously been able to use the news
    server, you might try changing prefs so that it doesn't automatically
    check for new groups. If not, then it seems likely this error may be
    preventing you from getting the complete group list to begin with.

    Ron,

    The good news is I got rid of the error by trashing the MT-NW preferences
    file. The bad news is I can no longer post new messages using MT-NW 3.3b1. I
    am responding to your posting using MS Entourage because something is wrong
    with my MT-NW or there is a problem at my ISP with the news server
