MT-NW error on Quit - Mac Networking

    Default MT-NW error on Quit

    MT=NW 3.3b1 on Panther.
Recently installled new HD, contents restored from clone of original
drive, repaired permissions before and after, did all the right stuff,
etc. Since the new drive installation, MT-NW starts and runs as usual,
but on Quit, message box "An unexpected error occurred. The error code
is -5000". OK, don't know what a -5000 error might be. MT-NW then gives
me an option to "quit anyway" warning that changes will not be saved.
Result of this option is that messages read and cleared are not saved,
so my groups are aculating a larger number of messages each launch.
I'll try a reinstall of the app while awaiting learned advice from those
    in the know.

Check the owner of the news subscription file. It might have an
obsolete owner ID after installing the new OS.

    Also try in Terminal:

    find ~ -nouser -X -print0 | xargs -0 chown username:usergoup

Replace the name and group after 'chown' with your username and group.
You can see your username and group by executing "ls -l" in a directory
where you've recently created files. It will be something like
    "chuckr:staff".

Thanks for the suggestions. The file owner info appeared to be ok.
I've got it going again, using the tried and true "trash the prefs" fix.
Still wondering what a "-5000" error is, though.
