multi core for mysql - MySQL

Hi i found that mysql performance on multi-core system will not be increased. I do a select from 10000 record on AMD 3400+ (1.02s), intel dual core 2.8Ghz (1.54s) and dual xeon 4 core (1.38s). So i think higher Ghz will have better mysql performance than more core. thanks from Peter (com)...

    Peter,

Parallelism allows a single query from a single connection to be sub-divided
across multiple processors. Check the MySQL site to see if parallelism has
been implemented yet. I think it may have been slated for 5.1. If not, then
there will be no substantial difference on one query.

You will however, gain significant overall performance with multiple queries
running concurrently. In other words, running one query may take 10 seconds
with one processor. Running the same query from 4 different concurrent
connections might take 40 seconds for each to complete because the processor
is dividing up its capacity among all 4 connections. Running 4 queries on 4
processors might take 10 seconds (plus a little) for each to complete
because each connection gets nearly 100% capacity of a CPU.

Run the test with multiple connections running concurrently. Use more than
    10,000 records.
