multi-purpose PHP page

Hey everyone, here is my question...

I am looking to have a single product page that is able to read a single table
that would contain several different categories, each designated by a 'minor'.
Now I am not sure how exactly I should structure my conditional statement. For
example, I have an idea of how it should work, something like SELECT 'column1',
'column2', 'column3' FROM table WHEN 'minor'=value... but again, I really am
not sure how to go about inserting this into a conditional statement. I have a
system that works now but there are just too many pages to write. For example,
I have a .php page for each different category where my SQL statement is more
or less what I wrote above, but I had to do that for each category. I know
there must be a different way. Im greatful for any help!
