multi-track audio editing app?

I'm looking for some shareware (or cheapish commercial -- under $75)
that does basic multi-track audio editing. I want to mix music together
and most of the shareware stuff I see out there (Amadeus, Sound Studio,
etc.) only supports one track. I just need basic functionality like
pitch change, and handling mp3's would be nice. Can anyone steer me in
the right direction?

There's a free version of ProTools available on

but I think it only works under OS9. Free! It does pitch-changing.
