Multiple copies of the same file
If I add a link to a .pdf file on html file and then publish this html file,
after i open the pdf file from that link in Contribute, it appends the file
with _000 after the original name and creates a copy of the pdf file. Is that
what Contribute is supposed to do? Or is there an option somewhere to prevent
that from happening?
Thank you.

Re: Multiple copies of the same file
Hi,
If you are administrator since you have delete permission enabled, it always
prompts youto Replace / Create file with similar names.
If not, on enabling "Allow users to delete the files they have permission to
edit" in Folder/File access category of 'Edit role settings' dialog for the
other roles (From administer Website dialog) , prompts him to either Replace /
Create file with similar names.
Hope this helps,

Re: Multiple copies of the same file
You may also consider:
If you are linking to the local file (abc.pdf) then it will be uploaded each
time you add a link (this is normal).
What you want to do is when you add a link for an existing file:
- Choose "Insert Link"
- Insert Link window opens and then choose "Browse to Web Page"
- Then choose the "Choose" button and search the site for the specific pdf
file ("Search your web server for the file you want to link to")
- Click OK and then OK in the Insert Link window to add the link to the file
This will link to the existing pdf file on the server without uploading a
new/copy of the file (avoiding the _000 issue)
Hope this helps.
