Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
When I hold down the shift key and select paths with either the Selection Tool or the Direct Selection Tool I should be able to select multiple independent paths. I can do this with 3 or 4 paths but when I select the next path, shift key still being held down, the previously selected paths are deselected and I am back to choosing just the next path, the previously selected paths being no longer selected. This is very frustraaatttiiinnnng! I see no mention of an inherent limitation in the help files. There seems to be no consistency to the number of items selectable in my technique. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to select more discreet paths at once?

Re: Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
I've not seen this before. You should be able to select as many paths as you like.

Re: Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
What happens when you try to marquis-select more than 4 paths at once? Will it select them all or leave some un-selected?

Re: Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
If I marquee select a section of the drawing, all the points within are selected. Holding down the shift key allows me to select even more. On the third selection it forgets the first two tries and newly selects the third.
I'm wondering if this might be a problem with my mouse, a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer which I dearly love (ergonomic shape, scroll wheel, multiple buttons, etc.) I will try a different mouse (a one button G4 mouse, ugh, but at least its not a hockey puck) and see what happens. Anyone else use the same mouse?

Re: Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
Late Breaking News. It wasn't the mouse, its the Belkin KVM switch that's causing the problem. Does anyone out there use the same switch or similar (F1DS104U) model and get the same problem?
When I plugged the keyboard and mouse into the computer through a non-switched hub, problem went away. Thanks to all for your help.

Re: Multiple Shift Select Limitation?
John,
This happens quite often is you accidently double-click or click twice too fast when the first click did not select the text path. The double-click is seen as a call to edit the text so it deselects the other paths.
