Music on a Website

What would be the right steps to have music play when your site would come up and have the song play through instead of starting from the beginning everytime you go to a different page?

Surely that's not possible. As when you load a page unless you stay on that
page until the music finishes then the file will reload when you click another
page!

On second thoughts, you could use flash for this project. As the user can
click to different parts of the movie (hence changing the page) without
clicking onto a different page.

I 'strongly dislike' sites that play music BUT...
would opening a (very small) second browser window with the music playing code
in that page... would this continue playing while the user navigated the main
site?
Potential problems: popup blockers, losing focus to popup window, music on a
web page (Aghhhh!).
