Default My Application HANGS up sometimes

hi... i m having strange problem... i made a kiosk in Director 8. the kiosk had 7 *.dir files with size of almost 300 mb each. i then bought director mx n opened all those 7 files in director mx n then saved them... so they were stored as i guess director mx version files.. then i compiled my main.dir to create projector.exe every thing went fine.. but when i run projector.exe some times i hangs up.. all my buttons become unclickable... i mean entire application just hangs up the only way it resumes is when i press ALT+TAB keys in windows to load any other folder or file opened in memory.. n then by pressing ALT+TAB key i returns to my Projector.exe i see it running...

i dont understand this prob... this thing happens sometimes... n sometimes my application runs fine... i've tried this on several computers in different memories but same case.. sometime it hangs up n sometime it run.. so i believe there is no scripting problem.. its something else... does any one of u know abt it?? i'll be really thankfull to u

    reply soon
    thanx bye

you need to update files if you import them into a newer version, check xtra
    > update option.
also you have mentioned that the files are 300MB, please give details as to
how much MB each dir file is. There could be various reasons as to why your
movie hangs.. give more details.. more details !!

    good luck

could it be a problem that the .dir files are over 300Mb? Have you tried to
protect the dir files by converting to .dcr ?

As Kart says, not much detail here. Not even so much as a mention of the
    platform.

    Just a few thoughts:

Did you remember to update the Xtras (if using an external Xtras folder)?
Likewise for any .dll files you may have.

If this is on a Mac, are you using the appropriate Xtras (Classic/OSX)?

Did you remember to use the recommended menu Xtras->Update Movies on those
    files before opening/saving them?

Did you remember to search and replace the old line continutation character
    ¬ with the newer \?

If so, did you remember to Compile All Scripts afterwards?

Have you tried simple test projectors/movies?

    Yea, you're cross-posting.

More possibilities have been posted in the .Lingo newsgroup.

    > ya i also tried to update it through update xtra but.. still... well
yesterday i compiled my projector by giving it an option to run in window
mode not fullscreen mode... n whole day my application went fine..

    Cool.

but still i m afrain it might encouter any problem..coz this is not the
logical way to fix the problem...

very true, this isnt the logical way to fix bugs.

    > well my two files are of 413 and 389 MB, others r less then 100MB n my
projector file is only 20 MB

OOPS !!! thats too big a file size Hassaan, you must spilt ur project into
smaller modules (dirs) and use external cast members !! and the 20MB
projector itself is big.. use stub projector and make the exe smaller < 3MB
    or even <1MB.

Guess the problem with ur application is the BIG FILE SIZE and not any of
    your lingo !

    Good Luck!
