My emacs will dump in console when i using search! - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

My emacs will dump in console when i search some word! After it dumping, it will print the following error message: Fatal error(6).Aborted But it works well when in X window. My emacs' version is 21.3.1. Can someone solves this problem! thanx...

    My emacs will dump in console when i search some word!
    After it dumping, it will print the following error message:

    Fatal error(6).Aborted

    But it works well when in X window.
    My emacs' version is 21.3.1.

    What version of Linux are you working with? Are you using the emacs that
    came with it, "xemacs" which is slightly different, or are you using a
    locally built one?

    My system is Madrake 9.0 and this emacs is not xemacs.
    I locally built it from src.tar.

    Did you remove the *old* emacs first? And can you install one from RPM, or
    build one from SRPM, so that it will flush the remnants of the old one and
    cleanly install the new one? Leaving two distinct large packages like emacs
    or gcc on a system can cause real problems unless you're sure to keep them
    entirely separate, and doing *that* is an artform.

    Why not use the emacs that comes with Mandrake 9.0 ?
