    Please post a URI to the page so I can examine the code to understand what
    you are describing.

    Do you mean the file icons that IE puts up?
    Surely it does not give access to YOUR computer from someone elses machine?
    Go to Tools> Internet Options > Advanced and in the Multimedia section,
    uncheck the "Enable Image Toolbar" and see if that does it.

    If this is not the issue, post more details.

    It's not because of the code, it's the IE Image Toolbar (one of the most
    idiotic little "helpers" MS added to IE).

    Jennifer, just add the following code somewhere between the
    <head></head> tags in your page(s) code. The first line is what removes
    the IE image toolbar, I always add the other two to all my pages too...

    <meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no" />
    <meta http-equiv="MSThemeCompatible" content="No" />
    <meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="TRUE" />

    The above are good for an XHTML document. For "ordinary" HTML use the
    following:

    <meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no">
    <meta http-equiv="MSThemeCompatible" content="No">
    <meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="TRUE">

    Donald!

    Thank you a thousand times! I unchecked the enable image toolbar and it's no longer happening. But it did give anyone access to my personal files!

    I was so happy to finally put my site up last night, and told a family member to check it out and they called me saying 'so i'm looking at pictures of your living room, your birthday, etc....' and I had a heart attack! She also said that she could go through my entire computer...It was only happening on images that I had created in fireworks, (some are fused with photoshop photos as well).

    Just because I have now unchecked this option, will other people who have not still be able to access these files?

    Thank you so much again!

    Jennifer

    It doesn't. It give anyone access to *their own* system files so that
    they can save whatever Web images they like anywhere on their machine.
    Jennifer just wrongly assumed that anyone clicking on the image
    toolbar's save button would see the same thing she did.

    She said she received a report from someone at another machine that they
    were able to see the contents of her machine. I'm interested as to whether
    she's running her machine as a server. But that still should not give
    access to the entire machine, just the InetPubs folder.

    weird;

    Not even that actually. Most Web servers including IIS do not give file
    browsing permissions to public web folders by default. Like Murray I'd
    be curious to see the page's code.

    Well, thanks so much for the help everyone.

    Stephane, you are correct, it was actually my mother who said that she was seeing pictures after clicking on the 'my pictures' icon and now that I'm asking her more questions about it, it was in fact her own system's picture folder and files that were opening....

    Why does this toolbar only pop up over fireworks images though, and not the regular photoshop images that I have?

    I guesss because she has pictures of our family on her computer as well, and she was so vague with saying, 'oh my gosh, i can see your family photos', that caused the misunderstanding. :-) phewf.

    thanks,
    Jennifer

    Jennifer:

    The toolbar will appear over any image that is larger than 200x200px, I
    believe.
