My Nightmare - (This forum is not accepting replies
This is in reply to seancoyle's Hotfix Pie Chart Bug Thread
Well that's been an absolute nightmare
Everything now back and running but Adobe really need to look at the installer
ready for version 8. The current one is a can of worms.
To back out of my hotfix (Adobe please note the folks out here use all of
Coldfusions features together and at the same time and this type of charting
bug cannot be allowed through even with something termed a hotfix)
Any way as I was saying to back out of my hotfix I thought I'd uninstall and
reinstall CF7.02 from scratch - that was Saturday today is Wednesday and I'm
just back in action !!
Reinstalling and reconnecting all of my Databases and Scheduled Tasks (Don't
forget those email settings) - something I can now do from memory,
unfortunately, the beginning on my ongoing nightmare each time i'd reinstall
something or other wouldn't be working first Flash CFGRID not contents of my
query 2nd install only works in Firefox third Then again any kind of flash
feature in Coldfusion on IE7 and Safari the final install no access whatsoever
to anything served up by the server even your standard HTML pages (AARRGGHH)
Now you would think I'd been messing around with my code my server between
each doomed reinstall but no....
My last attempt this morning when I removed CF702 all my webpages from the
other sites on the server all miraculously come back to life then when I
Installed again hooked up my databases again configured my scheduled tasks
again and set up that IP address of my SMTP server again
Success everything works CFGRID FLASH PIE Charts (I really can live with that
line break in the middle of the PDF's Coldfusion can generate.) N.B. no code
was change to make any of the above spring back into life
This kind of Randomness is not what I have paid my hard earned cash for
And the moral of this tale
Never install anything that terms itself a hotfix not if it is to do with your
Coldfusion Server
Looking forward to a nice fully tested resilient reliable reproducible version
8 (No Hotfixes or Updates Please)
Thanks for listening - I think I've earned my stripes to make this post
One last thing why should I have to pay for support when I find myself in this
position?
I've paid already for code that should work
Make it a good day folks
I'm off to lie down now in a darkened room and pretend this never happened
