My website completed entirely in Flash loads slow.... - Macromedia Flash Actionscript

Here is my problem: I am a newbie to Flash and assume that others have encountered this problem before. I built a site entirely using flash. I have an index page that has three thumbnail pics that when selected load three separate .swf files. (Take a look http://home.austin.rr.com/bfanninportfolio/home.htm ) Following a tutorial, I made all three images into a movie clip and made each separate image into a button. For each button I used the following code on (release) { loadMovieNum("Illus_fla.swf", 0); } ....."Illus_fla.swf" for illustrations , "video_fla.swf" for video game and "con_fla.swf" for concept art. Here is my problem:

I am a newbie to Flash and assume that others have encountered this problem before. For each button I used the following code

on (release) {
loadMovieNum("Illus_fla.swf", 0);
}

....."Illus_fla.swf" for illustrations , "video_fla.swf" for video game and "con_fla.swf" for concept art.

When I test the site on my computer it seems to work fine. When I have tried it on other computers more often than not, the .swf files load slow. I click on a button and after about 5 or 6 seconds the requested .swf file finally appears. This is especially true for the thumbnail .swf files on each of the illus_fla.swf, video_fla.swf and con_fla.swf pages. When I click on the thumbnail to view larger image, the
response time is frustrating.

I am sure the problem is something I did (as opposed to a slow computer/internet connection), so any info on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance

Did you clear the browser-cache before you load the site on your computer?

did you try to put a progress bar to see the loading process?

It is important both for testing purposes and also to give feedback to site's visitors.

Thanks for the response...

I havent tried the preloading bar. I just assumed I did something incorrectly to cause the site to run slow. The .swf files dont seem to be big enough to cause them to load as slowly as they do. I guess as a last option I can always add a preloading bar to let the viewer monitor progress.

A tip/question on-the-fly:
did you use components in swf? If yes, you shoulda know that your swfs will gain weight ...

Instead of the SWF file, what file do you need?

I was taught that I needed the .SWF file and index.hmtl file
