MySQL Connection doesn't work

I created a php file. I also created a database with a user name and password
in phpMyadmin at my remote Web server. I have used Dreamweaver's "Manage Sites"
to set up the remote information and the testing server. These work well.
However, when I attempt to set up the MySQL and test the connection, I get the
error message, "An unidentified error has occured." I have many numerous calls
to the Web server support, and they state that I have everything set up okay.
However, I still get the same error message. I have spent many hours trying to
resolve this, and would be most grateful for any assistance.
