No need to reinstall. At the Command prompt, change directory to mysql, then
    type:
    mysqladmin -u root flush-privileges [enter]

    That should do it.

If not, stop MySQL by typing this at the Command prompt:

    net stop MySQL [enter]

When it stops, change to the MySQL directory, and type:

    net start MySQL --skip-grant-tables[enter]
    flush privileges[enter]

After that, you should be OK.

    I don't think so.

BTW, if you are planning to work with MySQL, you will find "MySQL" by Paul
DuBois invaluable. It's a massive book, but it's very well written, easy to
use, and aimed at all levels of readers. Take a look at a review I wrote
    here (3rd item down):

I read parts of the manual last night, and couldn't get the flush privileges to
work as it stated. So will try your suggestions.
    Thanks guys.

    Any other input welcomed.
