Just had enough of posting on this abusive newsgroup. As a result I am posting on nice Microsoft Newsgroups, and other AOL boards. I think I concur with you. Although the use of teranews and MT-Newswatcher,
    makes me think twice.

    JW is incapable of writing as coherently as the OP. Also, the lack of
    misspellings and the pretty good punctuation are giveaways.

    You donąt believe I am JW? Oh come on! I crap everyday in my pampers,
    sing my Barney song, and dance to my floppy tunes. Floppies, Huggies,
    wipes, and changes make me cool... I am a definitely a diapered boy! I
    want to convince you all of my diaper fetish, so this group will become
    a diaper club!

    Yup, both capitalized and punctuated, although not entirely correct.
    Much better than jdoggy could every manage, even with his mommie's help.

    It also might not be the same copy of MT-NewsWatcher/3.1, based on the
    times when Spider Eyes posted to the the microsoft groups and these
    posts have appeared here, and a little something else.

    Well, I made a wild guess based on the following assumptions:
    a) that there is a single copy of Newswatcher installed on the computer
    b) that the message id header is generated by MT-NewsWatcher in the
    same way that it is generated by NewsWatcher. I haven't seen the code
    to MT-NewsWatcher.
    c) that Spider Eyes/Diapered Boy wasn't changing the computer time between
    posts.

    Based on this, he would have to be making some awfully fast changes of
    username/personality (within a few minutes) between microsoft.public.*
    and c.s.m.s to have be the same person. So I don't think that JW is
    diapered boy. Off course, I'm dead wrong if MT-NewsWatcher does
    message-Ids in some other way. But I only have access to John Norstad's
    NewsWatcher code.

    Bev

    Anyway, here's how NewsWatcher does it:
    /*----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    MakeMsgIdHeader

    Make a "Message-ID" header line.

    Exit: function result = error code.
    id = message id header line, or empty string if error.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------*/

    static OSErr MakeMsgIdHeader (char id[512])
    {
    static DateTimeRec prevDtRec = {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0};
    static short uniqueWithinSecond = 0;
    DateTimeRec dtRec;
    CStr255 hostName;
    OSErr err = noErr;
    char *p;
    short len;

    MyICReadSharedPrefs(kICEmail);

    *id = 0;
    if (*gPrefs.emailAddress == 0) return noErr;
    err = NetGetMyName(hostName);
    if (err != noErr) {
    if (err == userCanceledErr) return err;
    if (*hostName == 0) return noErr;
    for (p = gPrefs.emailAddress; *p != 0 && *p != '' && *p != '%' &&
    *p != ' ' && *p != '<' && *p != '>' && *p != ','; p++) /* do nothing */;
    len = p - gPrefs.emailAddress;
    GetTime(&dtRec);
    if (prevDtRec.day == dtRec.day && prevDtRec.month == dtRec.month &&
    prevDtRec.year == dtRec.year && prevDtRec.hour == dtRec.hour &&
    prevDtRec.minute == dtRec.minute && prevDtRec.second == dtRec.second)
    {
    uniqueWithinSecond++;
    } else {
    prevDtRec = dtRec;
    uniqueWithinSecond = 1;
    }
    sprintf(id, "<%.*s-%.2d%.2d%.2d%.2d%.2d%.2d%.4d%s>",
    len, gPrefs.emailAddress, dtRec.day, dtRec.month,
    dtRec.year%100, dtRec.hour, dtRec.minute, dtRec.second,
    uniqueWithinSecond, hostName);
    return noErr;
    }

    Thanks for the explanation, Bev. JW is definitely not bright enough to
    pull off such a fast switch, much less think of it in the first place,
    and he certainly isn't capable of writing like diapered boy. (Heck, he
    wouldn't use "diapered" instead of "diaper.")

    This is strictly speculation, of course, but if I were developing a
    version of NW, I wouldn't even think of changing how message IDs are
    done. Why spend any time on that, unless there's a good reason to.

    Anyway, even if you're dead wrong, the writing alone, I think, is enough
    to say it's someone else.
