Default Need AIX 4.3.3 9/2001 media

We just purchased two p610 systems from IBM, and need to run AIX 4.3.3
on these. The machines came with AIX 5.2, as IBM has ceased shipping
4.3.3 (or so they tell us). We have 4.3.3 10/2000 media, but cannot
install from that as it is missing the requisite drivers.

Ergo, we would like to obtain, buy, etc. 4.3.3 9/2001 media so we can
reinstall these systems to fit our needs.

TIA,

- rick

Do you have a specific reason why would you want to install an end of
life operating system that will be out of support 12/31/03? That's
the reason IBM no longer ships this OS.

I've gone to AIX 5.1 on all new installations for this reason. I'd do
AIX 5.2, but my current primary software application doesn't yet
support it.

You can build a mksysb cd on another machine with a generic bootimage or
setup NIM and boot/install from the network.

Not straightforward, but faster than a few hours on the telephone for
getting the right cd from IBM.

There is also a CD with Additional device drivers for 4.3.3 which comes
normally
with new systems that still support 4.3 like the p610.

Alternative, try to et hands on an older 4.3.3(0) CD set and download
fix-level 9
from the net.

You can also just download the missing filesets:

https://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/aix.fdc

I've installed p610's with older versions of AIX 4.3 and later on installed
the missing filesets.
Also can use an mksysb to "clone" from another working p610.

Good Luck

The p610 has a IDE CR-ROM drive, so the AIX media must have the
drivers for this drive.
