    Default need an alternate to ctrl-alt-delete for startup

    My delete key has stopped working and I need an
    alternative to get the login window to appear. Any hints?

    Don't you have a second Del-key in your numpad? It usually is situated under
    the dot... Don't forget to disable numlock!

    it is a laptop, not a desktop with a numpad, it is an
    compaq presrio 700. Is there another on a laptop
    keyboard? I guess implied in what you are saying, if I
    boot it with a keyboard attached, that will help? I'd
    have to let the battery run out to get it to reset, or
    push the reset key.
