Default Need colors to be consistent between Illustrator and InDesign CS2

I'm importing an AI border into ID and I need to match the CMYK colors. I have the color spaces synced and the document set to CMYK in Illustrator, but when I try to use the eyedropper tool to get a color off the AI file in ID, I get a warning that the color is an RGB proxy. If I convert the resulting color to CMYK it is not the same color value as in AI, but when I use the same color value as in AI, the colors don't match. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I can get the colors in ID that way, but I need them to match the AI file because I'll have them next to each other. If I use the correct values, they don't match. That's the problem. How do I know what will come out on the press?

If they don't match you don't have the color management settings
    syncronized on both applications.

If you have the suite you can do that in the Bridge Center.

My fault. I had the color values in ID wrong. I just got out my Pantone process coated guide and actually chose colors based on the final output instead of appearance on screen (what I should have done from the beginning). They match now. Sorry to post my problem when it was "my problem." Thanks.
