Hi, all. When I try to print seps. the color output settings are greyed out making it impossible for me to turn off inks. I have unused inks in the swatches pallette, but when I try to delete any of them that option is also greyed out and I'm not being allowed to delete or replace them. Can anyone suggest what kind of color options I've got buggered up that might be causing this? Using In-Design 2.0. Trying to solve this problem within the hour, if possible. Thanks in advance for any help!

What printer are you printing to? What "color output settings" are grayed out? How were these inks defined—within InDesign or in imported graphics?

And to think that you'll get an answer within an hour at 9:30 pm Pacific on the Saturday of Fourth of July weekend would require either a lot of hubris or extraordinary luck!

Yeah, I figured it was a longshot, but I figured it was worth a try. I'm printing to "post script file", which is the only option I'm being given, other than my inkjet. I used to be offered "Adobe PDF", but for some reason I'm not now. Also, the "output" settings in the print dialog box are greyed out. Notmally these settings allow me to specify a color output space and choose which ink colors to print and which to leave out. In this case, none of these options are being made available. I'm also unable to delete any of the ink swatches, including colors that don't seem to be being used. Checked all the color settings that make any sense but can't figure it out. Seemed like this might have happened to others and, lacking any other resource at this hour, decided to throw it up for anyone who happened to be on. Yourself, for instance.

To repair the Adobe PDF printer, installed by Acrobat 6 or 7, choose Help > Detect and Repair in Acrobat.

If you're choosing PostScript in the Printer popup menu, you should then be able to choose a PPD file. Choose Adobe PDF or Adobe PDF 7. Then you should see the Output options for separations.

So far, no luck. I've got Acrobat 5.0, so I'm gonna see if I can get the files I need from the Adobe website. Another possible factor is that I have an older version of Distiller installed and I can't seem to get OS9 Classic to start up. It looks like there's just no OS9 folder. I bought a full install of OS10.4 recently, but I guess it didn't install Classic. I tried installing OS9 from several sources, but none of the disks seem to be the one I need. Anyway, I'm gonna give this another hour and then give up for the night!

Oh, well. Giving up for now. I'll have to figure it out when I get back from vacation. Thanks for the help. Appreciated. Happy fourth.

When you get back ask in the Acrobat forum. It sounds more like an Acrobat problem.
